Final Photoshop Piece, 0 Period

As part of their work with Photoshop, students were asked to create a final edited Photoshop piece, using any of the techniques we learned during the course.  0 Period selected Mr. Scott Saier's self-portrait as their representation of the best of this work.

Warhol Pop Art, 0 Period

For the Warhol exercise, 0 period selected Ms. Michelle Kwong's portrait of Amanda Kielian, Mr. Jordan Mejia-Prieto's 4-square and Ms. Veronica Smart's glasses as their Photos of the Day for Pop Art.

Warhol Pop Art, 3rd Period

Last week, students were introduced to the life, times and art of Andy Warhol.  Using a variety of Photoshop techniques learned in previous weeks, their task was then to replicate Warhol in three categories: Pop object, 4-Square and Portrait.  For their Pop Object, the 3rd period class selected Ms. Sarah Kelly's Clothespin.  For the 4-Square they chose Ms. Briana McTiernan's Apple and for their portrait they chose Ms. Berney Arrogancia's portrait of Rochelle Sison.

Little Toys, 3rd Period

For the Little Toys assignment (see explanation in previous post), 3rd period selected Ms. Briana McTiernan's Dwight Schrute as the Best Object, Ms. Jaimee Daulton's Super Frog in the tub as the Funniest, Ms. Bernadette Arrogancia's "Beary Goes to Earth" as their Most Artistic and Ms. Barbara Del Castello's Evil Sock Monkey as their Best Use of Photoshop.

Little Toys, 0 Period

The assignment over the long weekend was for students to select an object no taller than 2 feet and take it with them places to photograph.  It was meant to be fun, silly and ridiculous.  There were 4 categories for Photo of the Day.  The Funniest category was won by Ms. Katie Benz and her travelling gnome.  The Best Object category was won by Mr. Jordan Mejia-Prieto and his Lego-sized Harry Potter reading a book of spells.  Most Artistic was won by Ms. Chelby Spray for her photograph of a mini-car in "New York."  Finally, best use of Photoshop went to Mr. Matt Silvestri for his Pikachu Goes to Vegas shot.

Photoshop Combination and Blending, 3rd Period

For our work in Photoshop this week, students practiced blending photographs and copy and pasting between photographs.  The class chose Ms. Celine Castillo's image of Mercy girls playing guitar against a sunset photograph for their Combination example and Ms. Nina Harkin's Giants World Series celebration as their blended image.

This week, students were introduced to copy/pasting images in Photoshop as well as blending images.  For their Photos of the Day, 0 Period selected Ms. Rebecca Reid's depicting the copy/paste process with the Giants' Brian Wilson and fellow classmate Amanda Kielian, and Ms. Veronica Smart's photograph demonstrating blended images.

Color to Black and White, 3rd Period

For the Color to Black and White project, 3rd period selected Ms. Berney Arrogancia's shot depicting black and white with a color filter, and Ms. Briana McTiernan's photographs for both true black and white and color emphasis.

Color to Black and White, 0 Period

The work this week was focused on using Photoshop to manipulate color images to black and white.  There were three photographs.  The first, Ms. Elizabeth Aiello-Coppola's, was our winner for the "True Black and White" category.  Mr. Jordan Mejia-Prieto's photograph of the flower won for the "Color Emphasis" category, and Ms. Rebecca Reid's photograph was the winner for "Black and White with Color Filter" category, with the use of a sepia filter.

3rd Period Photo of the Day, Landscapes

3rd Period selected Ms. Berney Arrogancia's photo of the day for their demonstration of Landscape.

0 Period Photo of the Day, Landscapes

0 Period couldn't decide on a photo of the day for the Landscape assignment.  Ms. Trea McElhone and Ms. Amanda Kielian came in at a dead tie.

3rd Period Photo of the Day, Depth of Field

For this assignment, students were taught how to manipulate depth of field in Photoshop.  3rd Period selected Ms. Mikaela Mercado's photograph as their Photo of the Day.

0 Period Photo of the Day, Architecture

0 Period selected Ms. Irene Bischofberger's photograph of the Oracle buildings in Foster City as their Photo of the Day.

3rd Period selected Ms. Christina Romeo's wharf shot as their photo of the day for the Architecture unit.  Congratulations on her second win in a row!

For their nature walk, Zero period selected Ms. Itzel Diaz's mushroom photo for their photo of the day.

Last week while working with broader perspective shots and the concept of landscape and architecture photographies, the 0 period students voted Ms. Shivani Patel's photograph as Photo of the Day.

3rd Period Photo of the Day

3rd Period's shooting exercise last week was titled, "From On High."  The idea was to warm up for the Architecture and Urban Landscape unit by taking pictures of anything from 15ft or more away.  3rd period selected Ms. Justine Carion's shot of the Lake Lot on campus.

3rd Period's Thanksgiving Supper
